Continuing Efforts

With the resumption of in-person events in the East Kingdom, we would like to re-introduce the Confraternity of the Green Stag, a charitable group of local reenactors operating as a private association independent of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.

Our mission is to assist those whose financial constraints might prevent them from attending Kingdom or local events. We firmly believe that enabling people to attend these events is beneficial to our Society, and want to allow a wide range of people to share the enjoyment we take in this hobby of ours.

If any gentle finds that cost would be a barrier to their attendance at an upcoming East Kingdom event, we would like to help by discretely paying your gate fees.

Contact us at GreenStagSCA@gmail.com, or through our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TheGreenStag.

(Alternately, if the spirit of this endeavor appeals to you, you may contribute to this effort by pledging your financial support to this campaign or volunteering to assist in the operations of the Confraternity.)

In sevice to the East and to our Dream,

Tygers Together Membership Drive

Attached below is an announcement about Tygers Together, an independent campaign which complements the goals of the Confraternity of the Green Stag.

Did you know that our Society is in trouble?

Across the Known World, our entire Society at the corporate level is dependent on membership to keep the lights on. When large numbers of folks don’t renew their membership, we are all in danger of losing our dream.

Many generous people from across the Known World are willing to not only renew their own memberships, but to pledge to help others do the same if their financial situation is impaired for any reason.

So, here’s how it works:

* If you are able, please renew your membership. Yes, even if though there are no events to go to. Even during this period of disruption, the Society still has bills to pay, and that’s what your membership fee helps to support.

* If you are unable to renew your membership at this time, ask for a gift membership from the Tygers Together campaign. Our donors are eager to help you, in part because it also means helping our Society as a whole. No questions will be asked about your finances, and your information will remain private. We will forward your request directly to the membership office, along with a donor’s payment to ensure your renewal. (Please understand that we cannot guarantee to fund every requested membership, but we will do our best.) To request assistance, please complete this form: https://tinyurl.com/Tygerrecipient.

* And if you have means and are willing, join our merry band of donors and help the Society that has given us so much. To begin the process, please complete this form: https://tinyurl.com/Tygerdonor. You can also send your donations via PayPal to tygerstogether@gmail.com.

These actions will keep the lights on and the insurance paid while we weather this storm together. The membership fees we send in will fund the SCA operations across all Kingdoms throughout the Known World.

It’s not just charity: it’s a grassroots populace-driven answer to a Society-wide issue. While there are many things we are powerless to prevent or cure, we are not helpless in the face of adversity. As long as we have each other, our shared dream will not die.

In Service to the Society,

Tygers Together

Twelfth Night Report

The Confraternity is proud to say that we were able to sponsor 4 people to EK Twelfth Night on 4 January!

Thank you to all those who have contributed money toward the Confraternity’s efforts. Your support makes this possible and we are glad to be helping those in our EK community share our events.

Support for Birka

The Confraternity is pleased to announce that we will be offering assistance to those who wish to attend a Market Day at Birka (24-26 January in Manchester, NH).

Anyone who would like to attend, but finds the cost difficult is invited to contact us at GreenStagSCA@gmail.com or by Facebook private message

Those who are willing and able to contribute toward the Confraternity’s mission are most welcome as well and may contact us in the same manner.

An Introduction

We are pleased to introduce the Confraternity of the Green Stag, a charitable group composed of participants in the East Kingdom of the Society for Creative Anachronism, operating as a private association unaffiliated with the SCA, Inc.

Our mission is to offer financial assistance to those in our Society who find that cost is preventing them from attending our events. We firmly believe that enabling additional people to attend events is beneficial to our Society and hope to bring more people in to share the enjoyment we take in this hobby of ours.

Our first round of assistance will be offered to gentles attending East Kingdom Twelfth Night, to be held on January 4 in the Crown Province of Østgarðr. If you would like to attend this event but find the cost prohibitive, please write to us at GreenStagSCA@gmail.com with a brief explanation of what financial assistance would mean to you and the degree of assistance that you are requesting: the number of people in your party, whether you have an SCA membership card, and if you would like to stay for the feast.

Please get in touch with us before registering for the event. When an individual is approved to receive assistance, we will notify them of the decision and work with them to have their reservation paid for. They will check in on the day of the event as usual. The Confraternity’s involvement will be entirely confidential and event staff will not be told that the reservations were paid for by the Confraternity.

If any gentle would like to contribute to this effort, you may contact us at GreenStagSCA@gmail.com to pledge your financial support to this campaign.

If the spirit of this endeavor appeals to you and you would like to volunteer to assist us in the operations of the Confraternity, please contact us about joining our committee.
